To the Hybrid Boomer – I appreciate your support.
Hybrid work means having the privilege to work from home, but periodically go into a company provided facility to work. It is a privilege because not every job, business, company, or profession can offer this type of work model.
GET $5 FOR FREE NOW!It is often assumed that hybrid work delays retirement, especially for Baby Boomers. The jury is still out on this one! There are individuals who would rather retire than allow their job to invade their home space for an extended period of time. These individuals do not want the distractions of work to impact the privacy of their home life. They want to keep housework, children, spouses, dates, and dogs separate from work. They also struggle with things like designating space in their homes for work and how to seamlessly transition daily from work to personal time or vice versa. Then there are the boomers who say that because they can work out of their homes rather than having to commute to a company facility, they can now remain employed well into their 70’s. Hybrid Boomers like not having to dress all the way up for work!
Companies are offering hybrid and remote work options to attract and retain the new generation of workers. Research has shown that Millennial’s and Generation Z talent seem to prefer the flexibility that come with hybrid and remote work. These modes of work have been deemed the workplace of the future. Hybrid Boomers like it too! At least some of us do! Whether you like hybrid work or whether you would prefer going into a company facility to work, hybrid work provides an option for boomers to retire now or stay in the workforce a little longer.
How do you feel about retirement now that you are a Hybrid Boomer? I would love to hear from you. Send me an email at boomer@hybridboomer.com and with your permission I might feature your comments in a future blog.
